How a whole living thing is written in four letters

Inside most of your body cells that have nuclei sits a copy of the same master book — DNA — spelled with an alphabet of only four letters on a twisted ladder. A simple pairing rule lets DNA copy almost perfectly as cells divide, while different cells use different parts of the book.
