Algebra Workshop: construct equations and models that work
Algebra Workshop connects arithmetic to equations, functions and practical constraints. Confident readers, teens and adults build solutions on live workbenches, then apply the same ideas to fresh numbers. The first activity needs no login; later activities and saved future progress use a free grown-up sign-in. Diffy measures product use to improve the service.
What kids learn
- Preserve equality by applying an operation to both sides
- Undo a scale and an offset in a two-step equation
- Construct a linear function from input-output observations
- Find values satisfying two simultaneous equations
- Separate fixed and variable terms in a cost model
- Find minimum whole-unit production that meets a target within capacity
How it works
Change equation operations, build function coefficients and test candidate quantities against live models. Six activities each include a coached example and a new unassisted case, with explanations and replayable values. The final production plan combines profit targets, integer quantities and capacity. Guest practice is temporary. Existing MathBlast and Vertex provide supporting practice; this introduction does not cover calculus or grant academic credit.
Try the introductory activity without signing in. A grown-up signs in once and adds a player for each kid, so Algebra Workshop's stars and progress save to your account and follow you to any device.
